Letters of Recommendation
Ask one or two teachers for a letter of recommendation by the end of your junior year and no later than at least 4-5 weeks prior to the application due dates.

To request a counselor letter of recommendation, you must complete the required steps on SCOIR and schedule a one-on-one meeting.
Choose a teacher that can give several specific examples describing your characteristics as a person and student, your written work, the degree and quality of class participation, and your interest in the subject. This is not necessarily the teacher who gave you an “A.” Recommendations should come from junior or senior level teachers.
Letters of Recommendation are neither required nor permitted for UC or CSU applications.
